Teaneck police responded to several 9-1-1 calls around 6:59 p.m. reporting a person lying in the roadway near the intersection of Cedar Lane and Lincoln Place, according to Deputy Chief Jeff Angermeyer of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.
Officers determined the individual had been struck by a vehicle, which fled the scene. The victim was transported to Holy Name Hospital, where they were pronounced dead, Angermeyer said.
Authorities are withholding the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin.
The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and Teaneck Police Department are actively investigating the case. Anyone with information about the collision is encouraged to contact local authorities.
